Manhattanites Mez & Self Suffice Most Added!
Peace Yall! Alot of good news (too much too post really)!
Right now I'm on my way to rock at the Hip-Hop Seasons Festival, you can see more about that on the Readnex Poetry Squad blog http://daybeforesoundtour.blogspot.com/
but...
I definitely gotta take a minute to THANK ALL THE DJS and STATIONS and Hip-Hop fans, as well as people who just like inspiring music in general who've been bumping the new "Manhattan Night" album. This is my first time releasing and promoting an album (even though I've been getting featured and rocking crowds for a while), and I'm really grateful to start out this way.
The GOOD NEWS:
"Come On In" from "Manhattan Night"
(Self Suffice and Mez produced by Young Cee) was in...
the top 5 most added songs on RapAttackLives !
and the top 2 most added songs on RapNetwork Record Breakers !
Also, "Let it Go" from the "LP3020" mixtape
(J. Cole, SYOR, Mez directed the engineering) has been...
getting props on many Hip-Hop blogs including 2DopeBoyz
SYOR is an animated electro-rock-hip-hop group with comic books and all that :) released through J. Coles new Dreamville label
Here are some quotables from "Come On In" and "Let it Go"
"Take my time, and yours, for everything's a season/
but you forgot the reason for yours, so I'm seizin'/
the Fall, Winter, Summer, Spring on y'all MCs - man!/
we already DOIN, while you stand there THINKIN"
- Self Suffice
"Couldn't picked a better flight though, cuz ain't nobody barely on it/
I guess them otha [brothaz] didn't want it like I want it/
- and if they DID, man I guess they scared to fly/
Nobody TOLD 'em they could do it, so they scared to try/
A couple people sittin' first class - I can't hate/
when you make it, I make it, we goin' to the same PLACE
- J. Cole
"We all connected, only difference is perspective/
'killin' me's to kill the next man, tell me is that your objective?/
- if it is, then go ahead and pull the trigger/
I guess you quick to draw, but don't get the BIGGER PICTURE
- Kid.Digit-O
"heard, 'Maza, you done changed up!' and I don't know
what to tell 'em, cause the me from just a year ago's a stranger/
lookin' in the mirror seein' traces of that kid I use to be,
and the new me - ain't even tryin' ta claim ya/
Use to sprintin laps, ending where I started at/
I was caught up in that trap, now I don't want NO PART of THAT
- Maza

Is the glass half FULL or half EMPTY?
There are 2 very thirsty people, in need of water. The first arrives in front of a glass of water and begins complaining, "this glass is half EMPTY!!!" A minute later the second person arrives in the same place and says, "this glass is half FULL!"
One moment later, the second person drinks the water. The first person complains, "Now the glass is TOTALLY EMPTY!!! Why did you drink it!?" The second person doesn't hear the complaining though, because they are already far away searching for more water.

Today is My Birthday... HELP!!!
Today is my Birthday and I want one simple thing, BUT I can't get it without Your Help! This post will tell you how to help if you are a DJ, MC, fan, or any type of cool person (we all have alot more potential than anyone would ever guess, especially you :)
What I want: Talented artists with inspiring messages to reach more people with those messages.
What's wrong: I respect popular MCs and the DJs that play them, but I don't believe
it should take a critically acclaimed album like "Manhattan Night" months, or years to be heard by people who LOVE Hip-Hop MUSIC. I know airplay is like an advertisement, so record labels spend alot of money on reserving airplay for artists who they're invested in. They're just trying to get their artists paid, and their children fed... there's nothing wrong with that.
But do so few artists and labels REALLY DESERVE all of the airplay? Nah bruh!
Labels help us spread our music to LARGER areas, hire BIGGER teams, and be available for MORE events, BUT we shouldn't have to be approved by a label executive to be heard in our own city by media channels who appreciate local TALENT. And I'm not the only one who feels this way...
How to help: Since 1985, Nasty Nes has been running a reporting system for DJs to discover and share talent, regardless of promotional budgets. He only asks 1 question:Do the DJs like it?
On April 13th (middle of my Birthday Celebration Week LOL), DJs can report to Nes using the info below. If you ain't a DJ, you can ask any DJs you know to report the song "Come On In" by Self Suffice and Mez (the Manhattanites), using the info below. The song is a metaphor comparing Hip-Hop culture to a home that you build and raise your kids with, reminding everyone who LOVES Hip-Hop culture not to let anyone turn your own culture against you.
Whether you're a DJ or Not, here's what you can do besides reporting "Come On In" to RAP ATTACK LIVES on April 13 (DJs send playlists to RapAttackTop30(at)aol.com before 4pm every Wednesday.)
Download the song below and play it
On facebook: post "adding COME ON IN by @[74713857843:The RapOet (Self Suffice)] to my playlist on April 13",
On twitter: tweet 'adding COME ON IN by @rapoet to my playlist on April 13',
On amazon: rate the album (after you hear it lol!) and mention what you like most in the review
Buy the physical or digital version of my new album "Manhattan Night" direct
from me on RapOets.com, or through AllisONEshop, Amazon, iTunes, eMusic
"like" me on FaceBook,"fan" me on ReverbNation,"subscribe" me on YouTube,"follow" me on Twitter and blogger
aside from helping me celebrate my Birthday and continue to make music, you will also get a "like", "fan", "subscribe", and "follow" back from me, AND if you're one of the first to help me achieve my simple Birthday Wish...
I will be giving you an additional gift (while supplies last)
Here's an Important Message from Nasty Nes:

A LOT OF YOU ARE NOT SENDING YOUR PLAYLISTS & WE NEED THEM TO TRULY REP WHAT IS BREAKING ON YOUR SHOW & ON OUR CHARTS. I DON'T WANT TO SEE THE DEATH of COLLEGE/COMMUNITY/INTERNET HIP-HOP RADIO BUT IT WILL BE DEAD IF YOU DON'T FEED US YOUR FEEDBACK & PLAYLISTS & THE DEATH & END OF RAP ATTACK.

RapAttackLives.com founder and West Coast Radio Pioneer, "Nasty-Nes" Rodriguez states, “I have always believed from day one that College Rap Radio breaks new Hip-Hop music first. Radio is not the same like back in my days. These days, mixshow DJ's can’t break new music in the mix unless it's on their playlist of "WHAT I CAN PLAY IN THE MIX." I've been to all the conferences dating back to the original NYC New Music Seminar, Jack The Rapper in the ATL, the Gavin, Impact and Urban Network. I've also had my own record label with Sir Mix-A-Lot, NastyMix Records and am a pioneer radio and mix DJ dating back to 1980. It's time to take what I've learned over the past 30 years &share that with the new generation of Hip-Hop DJ’s, artists & label reps...
